Research & Trials
Full-scope cardiovascular research.
CRI is a full-scope cardiovascular research organization: a trial site for sponsors, a full-service CRO, and a developer of original diagnostics, all under one roof.

Sponsor & Investigator Trials
Prospective, international, sham-controlled, randomized, patient- and assessor-blinded trial of alcohol-mediated renal denervation for Ablative Solutions (2019–2022). Primary results published in Circulation.
Phase 3 trial evaluating abelacimab in high-risk patients with atrial fibrillation deemed unsuitable for current anticoagulants. Active.
Fingertip and wrist cuffless blood-pressure validation in older adults (2023); large-scale biometric studies across hypertensive and hypotensive populations.
Enhanced external counterpulsation research spanning blood pressure, heart rate, and heart failure — including a 2025 NASA Human Research Program workshop selection on post-spaceflight reconditioning.
Virtual-reality cognitive behavioral therapy for stage 1–2 hypertension in outpatient cardiology (2022–2023).
Additional current sponsor work across cardiovascular therapeutics, devices, and AI, disclosed as each study becomes public.
Device, Diagnostic & AI Validation
Automated external defibrillator validation supporting FDA approval.
Cairdio/Lightscope heart-murmur detection, Ainthoven AI ECG analysis, and Cloud Stream medical-imaging echo platforms.
Student-athlete ECG screening with the Cody Stephens Foundation, supporting Texas House Bill 76 (the Cody Stephens Bill).
Sponsor Services
Six ways to work with CRI
Every engagement follows the same four-part structure: overview, what's included, deliverables, and an indicative timeline. Timelines are ranges, never fixed commitments.
Sponsor Trials
A ready cardiovascular site for pharmaceutical and device trials across all phases.
Full-Service CRO
End-to-end support for sponsors and investigators running their own protocols. All functions in-house.
Device & Diagnostic Validation
Independent clinical validation of cardiovascular devices and diagnostics against regulatory-grade endpoints.
AI & Digital Health
Real-world validation of AI algorithms, remote monitoring, and digital health platforms.
Internal IP & Investigator-Initiated Research
Original research and technology developed in-house, from concept to publication.
Regulatory, Quality & Biostatistics
The compliance and analytics backbone supporting every study.
Therapeutic Areas & Modalities
Our full therapeutic-area and modality overview is being prepared as a downloadable PDF. It will be available here shortly.
Site & Infrastructure
A research suite inside a working cardiology practice
CRI operates inside a working cardiology practice, Houston Cardiology Consultants (HCC), directly connected to our Principal Investigator. The front of the facility is an active clinical cardiology office; the back is a dedicated, separate research suite. That integration gives us a built-in cardiovascular patient population and direct, physician-led referral into trials, while keeping clinical care and research operations physically distinct.

Standards & Innovation
How we work
The rigor that de-risks CRI for a sponsor.
CRI maintains a version-controlled SOP library aligned to ICH-GCP (E6), with staff trained and documented against it.
- Salus IRB (primary, AAHRPP-accredited)
- Advarra (acceptable alternative)
CRI works with independent third-party monitors to ensure data integrity and GCP compliance.
- Good Clinical Practice (ICH E6) — CITI / TransCelerate
- Human Subjects Protection / CITI
- HIPAA
- IATA / DOT dangerous goods (biological shipping)
- BLS / ACLS / CPR
- Phlebotomy certification
- Financial disclosure / conflict-of-interest training
- Protocol- and device-specific training
- Delegated investigator credentialing
Innovation & Internal IP
Beyond sponsor and CRO work, CRI conducts its own investigator-initiated research: small, in-house projects that test new questions in cardiovascular care, AI, and digital health. This work is published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national meetings, including the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions. It's how we stay at the edge of the field and bring that rigor back to the partners we work with.
